Behavioral activation therapy, or TA, will teach the patient to set goals, increase positive interaction with their environment, and avoid isolation. This can be effective at alleviating symptoms and preventing depression. But, what exactly does TA therapy entail?

In general, a good therapist can help you get the right treatment for your depression. You can ask your friends, coworkers, or primary care physician for a referral. National mental health organizations also offer lists of licensed therapists. And community mental health clinics may provide counseling on a sliding-scale basis. However, you should make sure you get a referral before you seek therapy.
